Day 5: Gratitude for Money

"Gratitude is riches.  Complaint is poverty" - Christian Science Hymnal

Dear Gratitude,

I did this gratitude exercise number 5 - Magic Money - late on Friday.  I did not update this blog because the Shabbat arrived and I rested.

Pawpaws (papaya) growing in my garden.
Today is a beautiful Sunday morning here in Port Moresby.  Before I talk about being grateful about money exercise, let me tell you how grateful I am this morning for my small garden.

I first thing I did was to go out and see the night's dew on the leaves of the plants evaporating into the sunshine.  It is indeed a beautiful sight.  I picked up one tomato that has ripened overnight.

The morning glory and valangur plant growing.
I was grateful to see the valangur plants growing.  I brought the cuttings all the way from Vunapope in East New Britain Province to plant them here on these rocky soil of Port Moresby.

It's rocky soil but well, I only plant.   God sends forth His Spirit that breathes upon a void earth and life occurs.  "You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth" - Psalms 104:30.

The healthy tomatoes growing and bearing fruit.
The beauty of this morning was that I saw 3 small yellow butterflies attracted by the blooming flowers.  I have seen other color butterflies in my little garden before but not the yellow ones.  It's amazing these little creatures are.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh, and the tomatoes are bearing fruit, clusters of small fruits.  Lucy, my neighbor, has told me she was really impressed with my tomatoes.  The fact that they are growing on the rocky area where the stone wall is.

Cecelia and Lydia has also threw chilli seeds in the garden.  I am looking forward to them growing, too.

The constant rain has not helped with the fruiting of the watermelons.  We got 2 that we are waiting for to ripen so we can have some juicy watermelons.

Okay, let us get back to Day 5 Gratitude Exercise called Magic Money.  In this exercise, I sit down and think back to the time of childhood till now all that I received that money bought, money was paid for me and money was given to me.

For each memory and instance, I say and feel the magic words, thank you, with all my heart!

I always had food to eat.
I lived in a home.
I received an education over many years.
I had all that I needed for my education.
People blessed me with money.
I received gifts.
I had clothes.
I played sports.
I had essential items that I used everyday, like soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and shampoo.
These plus so many things things money bought - I received them at no charge!  They were hard-earned money.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  (I am deeply grateful for my dad and mom and all family, friends and even strangers!)

Part 2 of the practice requires me to take a dollar bill and write on a sticker that I place on the dollar bill:

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE  MONEY I'VE BEEN GIVEN THROUGHOUT MY LIFE

I take the Magic Dollar Bill with me for the day and at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon, or as many times as I want, take it out and hold the Magic Dollar Bill in my hands.  Read the written words and be truly grateful for the abundance of money I've been given.

After that, I put the Magic Dollar Bill somewhere I will see it everyday to remind me to continue to be grateful for the abundance of money I have been given in my life.

I did one for myself and one for Lydia which I gave to her.

Day 5:  Count My Blessings

I repeat magic practice of Day # 1 - Counting My Blessings.  I have written this down in my notebook.

Day 5:  Magic Rock - gratitude for the best things that happened today.
My neighbor Lucy brought me some leafy green vegetables (aibika), cucumber, watermelon, coconut and ripe banana.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Gratefully yours,

Kejanny
