Day 12: Gratitude for the People Who Made A Difference In My Life

Dear Gratitude,

I've been busy doing other things and did not have the time to post you this note until today.  I am so grateful to be alive, deeply grateful for the gift of life, as I am writing this.

The doctor has given me a further two weeks to rest, which is from the 29/4/13 - 10/5/13.  I will be back at work on May 13.  I am grateful for the gift of health which is keeping me alive.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The gratitude exercise for Day 12 according to The Magic is Magical People Who Made a Difference.  I had a quiet time today, where I went back in the timeline of memory and offered a prayer of thanksgiving for all the people who made a difference in my life.  Some a people I've known for some time, some are strangers offering random act of kindness.  I am truly grateful for them.

Well, I am suppose to have only three people, however, I will have four.  Like, I said, there are many I am thankful for but for this exercise, I will have only these.

1.  William Sawang ("Awa")

Awa, there are million things I can thank you for.  But right now, I miss you so much I couldn't fight back the tears as I write this.  I still can't accept the morning of 16 December 2008, when you peacefully departed home in your sleep.  Death remains a mystery.  I've written you this poem, Awa.  Today, I want to thank you for your love, care and being there through thick and thin for little Obag, to see her grow into a beautiful young woman and succeed in life.  Thank you for teaching me the principles of honesty, kindness, charity, sacrificing own comfort to help others, and for developing in me love for people.  Thank you for all that you've done to feed and clothe me, to encourage me, to spend quality time to talk to me about life.  I am deeply grateful for you and Namo who looked after my baby, so that I completed my tertiary studies.  You were out of job then.  You used your final entitlements to purchase a boat, the income from ferrying passengers paid for the family's basic needs and to pay for milk for my baby.  Your fishing trips helped sustained the family.  Because of all these sacrifices, you and Namo raised by child, taught her good principles and I completed my studies successfully.  I am where I am now because of that.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I am truly grateful for you teaching me how to take things easy as they come and love life.  I have taken after your steps.  Your vision to see positive changes to rural villages, and what you have done has sparked that caring heart and 'wanting to make a difference' flame in me.  And I will live to see it happen, whether in my time or my offspring's time.  You taught me to laugh.  You will forever be the number one magical person in my life.  Thank you, Awa.  I love you.

2.  Richard Baim / Korry Ruben

I can't thank only one person for my spiritual rebirth and journey as these two people changed the entire course of my life.  I am eternally grateful for my brothers in Christ Richard Baim and Korry Ruben.
Richard, thank you very much for the boldness and courage you had to ask me the bold question "are you sure you're going to heaven?".  The question made me react at first because I was always are faithful church-goer.  I never realized that I was a religious person and not a born-again, Spirit-filled believer.  I am deeply grateful that you witnessed to me and I accepted the Lord Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior on 19 July 1998 at Room A6, Luavi House, UPNG.  This decision was the stepping stone that changed the entire course of my life.  I am eternally grateful.
Bata Korry, thank you for walking with me through my early spiritual journey.  Yes, I made the decision to accept what Yeshua has done for me, it was like I came to the cross.  You helped me go beyond the cross into the deeper spiritual things of God.  I am truly grateful for your open rebukes, always telling me to be humble and to have peace.  You taught me to fast, pray and how to tap into the spiritual things of God.  You stood with me when I go through the valley of shadow of death.  You are God-sent and your input into my life and also changed the entire course of my life.  I am eternally grateful.

Eternally grateful,

Kejanny
